Course Overview

Cyberbullying – which refers to incidents where digital technologies are used to harass, threaten, and humiliate others – is one of the most common types of online harassment. Cyberbullying is on the rise worldwide. According to a UNICEF report in 2019, one in three young people (aged 13-24 years) in 30 countries said they have been a victim of cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is a growing problem among adults as well, especially in the workplace.

Cyberbullying can cause great physical, emotional, and mental health trauma in victims, including depression, suicidal thoughts, and even suicide attempts. Whether you are a parent, employee, or employer, it is crucial to know how to identify, avoid, and deal with such online harassment. Cyberbullying and You explain why cyberbullying is so dangerous, and how ordinary internet users can identify, avoid, and protect themselves - and others - from cyberbullies.

The course is divided into three main sections, viz., cyberbullying among kids, young adults, and in the workplace, so it is useful for a wide range of audiences. In each section, we will take you through the warning signs and provide a staying safe action plan. This course is designed to be a one-stop shop to protect yourself from cyberbullies, as well as how to step up and be an anti-bullying advocate.
