Course Overview

It’s very likely you don’t want evil-doers intercepting, reading, using, or modifying your voice, sound, data, messages, video, or images transmitted over a telecommunication (telecom) network. The ever-evolving telecommunications landscape has transformed network companies into dynamic digital, high-tech & cloud service providers, exposing these organizations to a wide range of cyber threats. As telecom infrastructure transforms, so too does the necessity to enhance real-time security measures. This urgency to safeguard against cyber threats is no longer a choice, but a crucial, immediate necessity. Security breaches, data theft, and disrupted services could cost businesses significantly, in addition to damaging their reputation.

This course can help you learn about and apply techniques, protocols, and services that can secure and protect your transmitted objects. With this knowledge, you should be able to understand the prevention of unauthorized access, capture, or modification of your transmitted objects and to make captured objects unreadable, unusable, and unaltered. Telecom networks (telcos) use circuit switching, message switching, and packet switching to move transmitted objects from the sender to the intended receiver. You use telecom networks every day, for email, telephone calls, text messaging, uploading and downloading web pages and files, and more. However, these standard switching methods and the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) do not inherently provide much security. This course explores the threats and protective measures that can help to provide security for all your objects that are transmitted over a telecom network.  The course begins with the fundamentals of cybersecurity for telecom, then dives deeper into practical aspects of defending infrastructures, detecting threats such as SIP Trunk Hacking and DDoS attacks, and deterring potential cyber-attacks. Designed with a hands-on approach, this comprehensive guide equips you with cutting-edge skills and strategies required to protect telecom services in this era of cloud and IoT. It covers everything from caller ID spoofing to securing IoT devices and includes monitoring for digital threats.

By the end of the course, you will have mastered the art of telecom cybersecurity, not just to survive but to thrive in the competitive telecom industry. You will be able to limit the impact caused to telecommunication networks by security flaws, ensuring a bright future for your organization in the digital transformation and cloud services era.
