Challenge Overview

You are the Cybersecurity Professional. The notorious hacktivist group known as 8urGl3 is planning to attack the nation’s power grid controls to cause a mass blackout as a state-sponsored attack. The Power grid controls are on several large data servers with a primary controller. Your task is to thwart the attack on the central controller file server. Your mission is to identify any potential vulnerabilities in the system by attempting to gain root access to the server. Report and remediate the findings from the attacks. This Challenge requires knowledge of service exploitation, bypassing security measures, and red team methodologies. Players will demonstrate skills in analyzing pcap files to identify potential vulnerabilities, Telnet to gain unauthorized access, and Wireshark. The target machine runs on a Linux Ubuntu OS with an IP address of **10.10.1.174.** You are the Cybersecurity Professional.
