SQL injection is one of the most critical and commonly exploited vulnerabilities in web applications. In this lab, you'll investigate how SQL injection attacks work by performing hands-on exploitation of vulnerable endpoints in OWASP Juice Shop, a deliberately insecure application designed for learning.

You will begin by identifying a target endpoint vulnerable to SQL injection and crafting malicious input to manipulate backend database queries. This may result in unauthorized access to user accounts, bypassed authentication, or even data exfiltration. You'll also observe how error messages and application responses can aid attackers in refining their payloads.

Following the attack phase, you will switch roles to a developer focused on security. Using best practices, you’ll implement prepared statements, parameterized queries, and input validation techniques to mitigate the same vulnerabilities you previously exploited. Additional defense mechanisms like Web Application Firewalls (WAFs) and output encoding will be discussed to provide layered protection.
