Course Overview

Cloud computing has revolutionized the way businesses manage and deploy IT resources, offering scalability, flexibility, and cost efficiency. Unlike traditional IT deployments that require extensive hardware investments and maintenance, cloud computing provides on-demand access to computing power, storage, and services over the internet. This course begins with an overview of traditional IT deployment models, including on-premises and colocation strategies, before diving into the fundamental characteristics of cloud computing, such as on-demand self-service, rapid elasticity, and resource pooling. Learners will explore the three primary cloud service models—Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS)—along with the concept of Anything as a Service (XaaS). The course also covers different cloud deployment models, including public, private, and hybrid clouds, and concludes with an analysis of the advantages of cloud computing and how to calculate Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
