Course Overview

Setting up a dedicated and secure attack lab is a crucial first step for anyone pursuing ethical hacking or penetration testing. A well-designed lab provides a safe environment for practicing offensive techniques, experimenting with vulnerabilities, and learning professional testing workflows without endangering production systems. This course guides you in building a professional-grade penetration testing lab from scratch, equipping you with both technical setup skills and awareness of ethical considerations. 

This course begins with VirtualBox fundamentals, where you’ll learn installation, extension pack setup, NAT networking, IP conflict fixes, and configuration snapshots. You will then deploy core lab systems, including Kali Linux, Metasploitable2 and 3, Windows 10 Pro, and other virtual machines, while practicing installation techniques such as browser spoofing. Next, the focus moves to server setup, including creating a Windows Server 2016 machine and promoting it to a domain controller. Along the way, you will explore lab isolation, segmentation, troubleshooting, and documentation essentials such as Statements of Work, Rules of Engagement, and NDAs, with alignment to frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK, NIST, and PTES. 

By the end, you will have a fully functional penetration testing lab, ready to run tools, exploits, and scenarios safely while building professional-level cybersecurity skills.
