Course Overview

Cloud platforms have become the foundation of modern digital infrastructure, enabling organizations to scale quickly, improve agility, and deliver services efficiently. However, securing cloud environments requires understanding shared responsibilities, identity controls, infrastructure hardening, and continuous monitoring across increasingly complex environments. This course provides practical knowledge and hands-on experience to help you build, secure, monitor, and govern cloud environments using industry-relevant cloud security practices and tools.

This course begins with foundational cloud concepts, including service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), cloud infrastructure components, identity and access management (IAM), multi-cloud architecture, and the shared responsibility model. You will then learn to secure virtual infrastructure through hardening techniques, secure networking, encryption, backup strategies, and storage protection. The course also covers cloud-native detection and response capabilities using logging, monitoring, incident response, and forensic techniques, before introducing governance and compliance practices aligned with CIS Benchmarks, ISO 27001, and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.

By the end of this course, you will be able to securely deploy, monitor, govern, and respond to risks across cloud environments using practical cloud security controls and frameworks.

What You Will Learn

  • Tell compute, storage, and network resources apart and map them to IaaS or PaaS.
  • Create least-privilege IAM users, enable MFA, patch a VM, and build a “web-only” security group.
  • Turn on GuardDuty, Azure Defender, or Google SCC and interpret your very first findings.
  • Align basic controls to CIS Benchmarks, ISO 27001 clauses, and NIST CSF categories, then export tag, cost, and config reports.
  • Disable a compromised key, snapshot evidence, and write a five-question post-mortem, without specialist tools.
