Course Overview

Cyber deterrence and resilience are essential components of modern cybersecurity, helping organizations prevent cyberattacks, minimize their impact, and maintain critical operations during disruptions. As cyber threats continue to evolve, organizations need effective strategies to discourage malicious activities, strengthen defenses, and recover from security incidents. This course begins with the foundations of cyber deterrence, exploring its historical evolution, traditional and cyber deterrence models, deterrence by denial, punishment, and resilience, as well as the challenges posed by state and non-state actors. It then covers cyber resilience frameworks, including NIST, ISO 27001, ISO 22301, and ENISA approaches, followed by defense strategies, endpoint and network security, cyber deception, honeypots, threat intelligence, and intelligence-led deterrence. Learners also explore incident response, recovery practices, business continuity and disaster recovery planning, AI-driven automation, Zero Trust, and emerging cyber threats. Learners will develop practical knowledge to strengthen cyber defenses, implement resilience strategies, manage incidents, and prepare organizations for evolving cyber threats. The necessary resources for this course are in the "Resources" section of Video 1.1.
