Course Overview

The dark web is a part of the internet that requires specialized technologies and privacy-focused tools to access and investigate. Understanding its structure, safety considerations, ethical boundaries, and research methods is valuable for cybersecurity professionals involved in threat intelligence, investigations, and online security. This course begins with an introduction to the dark web, including the differences between the surface, deep, and dark web, common myths, and ethical considerations. It then covers accessing the dark web, Onion services, VPN leak testing, privacy tools, secure communication, Tails, SecureDrop, OnionShare, cryptocurrency and escrow basics, dark web search engines, OSINT tools, and breach research. The course also introduces dark web data breaches and provides optional hands-on setup of VirtualBox, CSI Linux, and a Tor gateway. You will gain practical knowledge of dark web concepts, privacy tools, ethical research, OSINT techniques, breach awareness, and secure investigation environments.
