Course Overview

Open-source Intelligence (OSINT) is an essential capability in modern cybersecurity, investigations, threat intelligence, and digital research. It enables professionals to collect, validate, analyze, and correlate publicly available information from websites, social media, search engines, images, business records, and other online sources. Effective OSINT helps investigators develop evidence-based insights while maintaining appropriate legal, ethical, and operational boundaries. This course begins with the foundations of OSINT, including data collection, investigation methodology, bias awareness, reporting, virtualization, Linux, and operational preparation. It then progresses through sock puppets, secure data handling, advanced search techniques, reverse email and phone searches, employee and people searches, website intelligence, the Dark Web and Tor, browser plugins, social media investigations, OSINT frameworks, Maltego, metadata and geolocation tools, and practical investigation challenges. The course also covers reporting and brings the techniques together through hands-on email and OSINT investigations. By completing this course, you will gain practical OSINT investigation skills for collecting, validating, analyzing, documenting, and reporting publicly available intelligence responsibly.
