Course Overview

India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act establishes a comprehensive legal framework for governing the collection, processing, storage, and protection of personal data. As organizations increasingly rely on digital technologies and data-driven operations, understanding the DPDP Act has become essential for ensuring regulatory compliance, protecting individual privacy rights, and building trust with customers and stakeholders. This course provides practical guidance for interpreting and implementing the DPDP Act and its accompanying Rules within organizational environments.

This course begins with the fundamentals of the DPDP Act, exploring its legislative framework, key principles, stakeholder roles, and comparisons with leading global privacy regulations. You will then examine the rights and responsibilities of Data Principals, the obligations of Data Fiduciaries, Significant Data Fiduciaries, and Consent Managers, along with requirements for data breach management, data retention, cross-border data transfers, and the role of the Data Protection Board of India. The course further covers grievance redressal mechanisms, special provisions for children and persons with disabilities, enforcement actions and penalties, a detailed analysis of the DPDP Rules 2025, and concludes with a phased roadmap for implementing and maintaining an effective organizational privacy compliance program.

By the end of this course, you will be able to interpret the provisions of the DPDP Act and its Rules, implement privacy governance and compliance programs, and effectively manage data protection obligations to support secure, compliant, and responsible handling of personal data within your organization.
